If you sign up to a comprehensive counseling agency then you’ll usually find that they have both licensed physiologists and counselors for you to choose from. The Difference Between A Psychologist and Counselor

Firstly it is important to remember that both of these are trained in all sorts of counseling and have trained for a number of years to be able to give the help that you need. The main difference between psychologist and a counselor is the training that they have had and the academic path that they will have had to follow in order to become qualified.

In order to become a clinical psychologist qualification a person will need to have trained for about 7 years for a doctorate degree and then 4 years as an undergraduate. They are trained to look into behavior and diagnosing why people act the way that they do.

The training to be a counselor is a little different because their masters degree will take 4 years of education before they study for their undergraduate degree. The training tends to focus on counselling and getting people to open up rather than research and behavour like a psychologist.

To be honest with you, if you feel that you need help with any sort of metal health issue this isn’t something that you should worry about too much. Seek the help you need and you can always be refered onto someone else if  the treatment you sought isn’t working for you as effectively as it could be.
